Field Trip: Urban Agriculture Cooperative Food Hub
Field Trip: Urban Agriculture Cooperative Food Hub
Urban Agriculture Cooperative (UAC) is an NJ-based food hub aggregating and distributing products from urban and small/medium farms in NJ through farmer’s markets and wholesale. Attendees will start the day by meeting up at the Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Essex County in Roseland before boarding a bus that will transport the group to UAC. We will tour the facility with Emilio Panasci (Executive Director and Co-founder of UAC) to learn about this unique market channel and the role of food hubs in the food system. Attendees will also have the opportunity to talk with a UAC farmer-partner and enjoy informal networking over a chef-prepared lunch.
Space is limited! Registration is required for this field trip and there is a $15 registration fee.
This field trip is part of the Networks to Reduce Risk: Building Viable NJ Farms program which is designed to improve risk management strategies for urban and rural farm business owners by connecting them with interactive educational opportunities, practical resources, and each other.
