Presenters from the Rutgers Cooperative Extension Service will teach you all about the composting process – what is composting, how to compost, materials that you can compost and those you cannot, and troubleshooting any issues you might encounter. What To Compost vs What Not To Compost

Things You Should Compost:

  • Vegetable and fruit scraps
  • Coffee grounds/filters and tea bags
  • Grass clippings (nitrogen source) and leaves (carbon source)
  • Other yard waste
  • Chopped twigs/branches

Things You Should Not Compost:

  • Meat scraps/bones
  • Dairy products
  • Cooking oils
  • Pet waste
  • Fish
  • Disease or insect infested plants
