Rutgers Home Gardening Classes 2026

Classes run February 5, 2026 – April 23, 2026 on Thursday evenings from 6:00pm – 7:30pm.  

Cost for the 11-class series is $250.00

(Registration open from November 14th, 2025 - January 29th 2026) 

Delve into the science of gardening through eleven classes delivered by experts, along with access to additional online resources. This program is available both to Sussex County home gardeners seeking to improve their horticultural skills and to those interested in becoming Certified Rutgers Master Gardener Volunteers. [After successful completion of the gardening course, Master Gardener Intern volunteers are given additional instruction to complete their training.] 

Topics include but are not limited to botany, soil, entomology, plant  pathology, composting, vegetables, woody plants, ornamental plants, and lawn care.  

In-person classes will be held at the Sussex County Extension office, 130 Morris Turnpike, Newton, NJ 07860 (limited seating available). 

Online classes will be delivered live simultaneously.
