Seed Swap Social

The Rutgers Master Gardener Volunteer Program is incredibly excited to host our 1^st Annual Seed Swap Social for both our experienced local growers and our newcomers to the growing community.  This festive event will provide gardeners the opportunity to:

• Collect all types of seeds for the 2027 Growing Season
• Share their most successful, rare and favorite seeds with their peer community
• Plan their spring seed starting and summer gardens
• Learn through informational displays and demonstration tables on effective strategies and tips for growing herbs, vegetables, flowers and native plants hosted by RMG
• Create community bonds with our fellow growers 

How You Can Support:

• Share this information with friends, businesses and social clubs and ask them to share.
• Start saving your seeds in paper envelopes w/plant, variety and date.  Include seeds you may not have used this past year.
• Drop seeds in Seed Box starting October 15, 2026 at Rutgers Cooperative Extension office, 355 Court House South Dennis Road, Cape May Court House, NJ  08210.

Seed Swap Policy:

Accepted Seeds: Open pollinated, locally saved, excess of already purchased, donations of
                               excess seeds by seed company
Prohibited: Seeds or plants that are considered illegal, either federally in the United
                        States of America or the state of the event. Genetically engineered
                        plants, F1 hybrids, poisonous, noxious, or controlled seeds, and
                         plants. Patented varieties - although it is legal for gardeners to grow
                        and save patented varieties, it is illegal to distribute them; refer to
                        the USDA website for a list of patented varieties. Unknown seed from
                        volunteer plants.
