The Department of Family and Community Health Sciences is committed to providing transformative educational experiences that prepare students to become leaders in promoting health equity and community well-being. We believe that meaningful student engagement beyond the classroom is essential for developing the knowledge, skills, and professional competencies needed to address complex health challenges in diverse communities.

Our student involvement opportunities are designed to connect academic learning with real-world application, fostering critical thinking, cultural competency, and a commitment to social justice. Through hands-on experiences, students develop professional networks, gain practical skills, and contribute to evidence-based research and programming that makes a tangible difference in communities across New Jersey and beyond.

Whether you're interested in gaining field experience through internships or pursuing specialized knowledge through our undergraduate minors, FCHS offers pathways for students to engage deeply with community health practice, research, and advocacy. These experiences prepare graduates who are not only academically prepared but also professionally competent and socially conscious practitioners ready to advance health equity in their careers.

Join us in building healthier, more equitable communities while developing the expertise and leadership skills that will define your professional journey.
