Equine & Livestock
New Jersey's livestock industry helps sustain multiple supporting economic drivers, such as hay and grain producers, equipment dealers, veterinarians, blacksmiths, and others who work in the livestock industry. Commercial farmers have branched out beyond "traditional" livestock (cattle, poultry, swine, small ruminants, etc.) to raising llamas, alpacas, water buffalo, bison, rabbits, emus, ostriches and other livestock. The most valuable livestock products raised in New Jersey are horses, followed by dairy products (milk), chicken eggs, and beef cattle and calves.
